Join the revolution at FACT – 2008 official opening weekend
Come to FACT on Saturday 12 January 2008 to celebrate the official opening of Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture with a series of free events, music and entertainment.
Capture your hopes and dreams for the future of the city by designing your own hot air balloon with UK artist and inventor Luke Jerram at a free workshop for young people from 11.00am – 1.00pm before letting them go in Arthouse Square.
Music and visuals will come from Liverpool/New York VJ Jackie Passmore who will project her own style of entertainment at the front and rear of FACT, including an exclusive performance with tenantspin’s John McGuirk.
British electronic percussionists Powerplant will perform a live set in Arthouse Square during the afternoon.
Also, Jump Ship Rat’s Ben Parry will be driving his Musical Milk Float sculpture around Ropewalks.
Picturehouse at FACT will continue the season of Live HD Metropolitan Opera beamed direct from New York with Verdi’s Macbeth in a new production from Adrian Noble (show starts at 6.30pm. Tickets £25, concessions £20, FACT Members £17.50)
Director and CEO of FACT, Mike Stubbs says, “To celebrate the opening of a momentous year for Liverpool we want to encourage Liverpudlians to share in our resolution and see this as a time for the city to make revolutions to shake up its path towards a bright and successful future”.
