Artwork of the Day – Nina Edge

Liverpool artwork of the day – Wednesday October 3 2007. ‘Terra Repeat Pattern’ by Nina Edge, textile. At The Site, Albert Dock until October 28 2007

Liverpool-based Nina Edge’s installation ‘Terra’ explores our increasingly militarised world, and how camouflage makes it difficulty to distinguish between friend and foe. Using both traditional and industrial processes, the installation juxtaposes domestic floral prints with camouflage fabrics, exploring how different fabrics render the wearer visible or hidden.

Nina Edge explained: “Wearing camouflage announces the status of trained armies but in the current climate civilian clothes have become the ultimate camouflage.
