Artwork of the Day – Nathan Pendlebury

Liverpool artwork of the day – Thursday September 20 2007. ‘Sunday Sun’ by Nathan Pendlebury at Liverpool Academy of Arts from September 24 to October 5 2007

Viewing tomorrow night (Friday 21st) is the ‘Begin’ exhibition of works by Anthony and Nathan Pendlebury (Dad & Lad), exhibiting together for the first time.

The work on show is a mixture of painting, drawing and photography, ranging from large textured abstracts, inspired by nature, to bold graphic abstract photography, with a very urban edge. Nathan and Anthony have a different style to one another, but the array of work on show fits together well.

Nathan studied art at Warrington Collegiate Institute and also a Liverpool John Moore’s University. He lives in Liverpool and has a studio space in Liverpool City Centre in ‘Redwire Studios’. He has exhibited across Liverpool and Merseyside, and has recently been successful in gaining a place in the ‘2007 Chelsea International Fine Art Competition’ in New York, being one of only a small number of artists selected from thousands to exhibit. The competition was judged by esteemed academic Tina Kukielski of the New York Whitney Museum of Modern Art.
