Liverpool artwork of the day – Monday April 2 2007. ‘Eclipse’ by Geoff Yeomans online
I love the textures in Geoff’s paintings.
“Still Life is a basic, solitary scrutiny of the physical objects of experience in arrangements that can lead to broader issues.
Traditionally still life contains hidden metaphors and allegories about life and inevitability of death. My objects have to be visually attractive and of the present day: things important to or rejected by my children and friends. The carapace of a wrecked car, an Action Man, a chain link fence or beached ship are more significant to us than the fallen petal, spilled wine or the dead rabbits of Dutch painting.”
