Two excellent shows at The Williamson in Birkenhead close this Sunday, January 14 2007

OSMOSIS by The Fellows of Wirral Art School has the work of four artists: Jan Brown, Amanda Oliphant, Barbara Lamb and Jo Swift. All familiar names now to followers of the Merseyside art scene as they have been very active exhibitors since they were students at the College.
An interesting and thought-provoking mix of abstracts, sculpture, photographs and video influenced by the environment, human tragedy, nature and social engagement.

The Third Wirral National Open Art Exhibition is spread across several rooms as it features over 250 works by artists from all over the UK.
But there are several local artists in there too, quite a few have appeared on this website at various times.
For instance Prize Winners Phil Dowling, Kathrine Schou, Aimee Spilsted, Simon Britall, Nathan Pendlebury, Matthew Snowden, Christine O’Reilly-Wilson and Jane Hughes. Well done to all them and the other artists. Though mostly more conventional than Osmosis for instance, there’s some really good, skilful pieces here.
