Only 1000 days to go!

Culture countdown begins in city
A clock will start counting down 1,000 days until Liverpool becomes European Capital of Culture on Wednesday.
The official countdown will be beamed on to the Radio City tower and will be visible from many parts of the city. Other countdown clocks will appear on the BBC Big Screen, the Capital of Culture offices and in Victoria Street.
I don’t mind the countdown on the liverpool08 website but isn’t this just a bit silly (and unecessary expense)? I’m looking forward to 2008 as much as anyone but I’ll also be 3 years older by then. We all need to plan ahead but lets not wish our lives away, there’s 1000 Todays to enjoy before then and there’s always the danger it’ll be a huge anti-climax. Maybe 1 years countdown would be better.
