I’m really looking forward to next weekend, there’s lots going on including the Future Station event at Edge Hill on Saturday 13th and, not least, the Wirral Open Studios which starts with a preview event in Hoylake on Friday evening before all the venues open to the public for the Saturday / Sunday.
Here’s the blurb from organiser Micheline Robinson…
We are proud to invite you to the Wirral’s first official Open Studio Tour which will take place on the week-end of the 12th-14th of November, 2010.
Please join us on the 12th of November for the preview, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Hoylake Community Centre .
There will be a sample of works from all the various week-end venues, top drawer poetry from established poets and background music performed by musician Tibi and her Cello!
Pick up a map of the week-end’s art trail on the preview night, in the week preceding the event in Wirral libraries or at the Biennial Hub on Renshaw Street, Liverpool (where the old Rapid’s shop used to be). You can also download the brochure on the www.wirral-open-studios.com website.
On the 13th and 14th of November from 12:00-5:00 p.m., enjoy a leisurely week-end of art discovery, set against a background of the sea and Wirral’s lovely rural landscape. There will be quality works to suit every taste; from sculptures, felts, embroidery, jewellery to a plethora of painting styles.
Various venues will be offering workshops and some will even offer a selection of teas, coffees and biscuits. For children especially, there will be a find a pound treasure trail with clues to follow… where pound coins will be hidden in various public spaces, shops and galleries during the event. The coins you find, you keep! The trail will be listed on the foundapound.com website as well as on this one in early November.
This year we will be supporting Cruse Bereavement Care and the Wirral Autistic Society.
This is truly a family event not to be missed!
