I have uploaded Seven videos to Youtube and you have to watch them all. Not because my camerawork is anything special but because the Luminocity event was really good. We had an excellent vantage point but the Pier Head wasn’t too packed anyway, the steps around the new canal are ideal for these occasions.
It was a bit slow to start, the street performers and Samba band kept people amused but it was quiet until 22.00 when the half-hour light and sound show got going. The main action took place in front of the Port of Liverpool building with colours and images being projected onto it and fireworks in front.
My own favourite bits are on video part 3 when the music from Tony Hart’s ‘Vision On’ plays and the building is gradually coloured in with artwork that children had produced and videos 5 and 6 which show the beautiful airborne dancer floating above the crowds – that was special.
We are really so privileged to have all these events happening here in Liverpool thanks to the hard work, energy and creativity of the people and cultural organisations based here. I hope it continues and I hope we never take it for granted.
