New Paintings by Claire Stringer
Exhibition March 4 to April 12 2008
Claire’s work is inspired by ‘Momentum‘, a physical theatre company based in Liverpool. Momentum’s original and innovative style combines the art of movement/dance with a comic/tragic style of acting.
During November 2007 and January/February 2008, Claire has been attending and working at Momentum’s rehearsals for their latest production ‘Anima’. Claire has developed the drawings made in the rehearsals to produce a series of new work, exploring the tension between the performers, the shapes they make, their energy and emotion.
” My work looks at ways to represent movement, time and rhythm within a still image.”
There is an exhibition opening on Tuesday, 4th March from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The exhibition is free to view throughout Unity during opening hours.
Note that the ‘Leap 2008’ Dance Festival will be taking place during the time of the exhibition and several dance events will be taking place at the Unity.
Momentum premiered their latest production ‘Anima’ at the Unity from 5th – 9th February. This is a commission from the Liverpool Culture Company to form part of the Artistic Programme of Liverpool 08 – Capital of Culture. Its performance at the Unity precedes a national and international tour.
