Top British artists’ work available at Buy Art Fair
Art lovers visiting Manchester will have the chance to buy prints and art work from top names on the British art scene, such as Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Banksy and Stanley Donwood.
Now in its third year, the Buy Art Fair is now firmly established on the art-buying scene and takes place in Spinningfields, Manchester from Thursday, October 28 to Sunday, October 31.
The Buy Art Fair is sponsored by Bluefin Insurance Services in conjunction with AXA Art Insurance, and Jaguar Cars Limited.
Well-respected galleries artrepublic and Eyestorm will both be bringing prints from all their favourite cutting edge artists, while Emin International is exhibiting at The Manchester Contemporary.
Gallery and online shop artrepublic has some beautiful prints from Damien Hirst’s new butterfly collection, including a print called To Belong, which is a blue and pink etching, limited edition print of 75 (image attached and price on application).
Lindsay Alkin, artrepublic gallery director, said: “We are really excited about doing the Buy Art Fair in Manchester for the first time. It’s a great opportunity to introduce many successful, cutting-edge artists from our London and Brighton galleries to art collectors and enthusiasts in Manchester.
“We will be showcasing a wide range of limited edition prints from artists including Banksy, Damien Hirst and Peter Blake, plus other immensely talented British artists such as Andrew McAttee, Eine, Dan Baldwin, Brad Faine, Screen Prince and Graham Carter. In addition, work by US prolific artist Obey and LA based Mr Brainwash will also feature.”
London-based Eyestorm, one of the UK’s leading online galleries and publishers of signed limited editions, will be showcasing prints they’ve published with eminent artists including Peter Blake, Radiohead album artist Stanley Donwood and artist/comedian Vic Reeves.
In 2006, Eyestorm published a series of four limited edition prints with Stanley Donwood, who is best known for his collaboration with Radiohead, producing their album artwork since 1994.
The prints – Teeth, Borealis, Realistic and Avert – were all based on the album artwork for Radiohead’s Kid A and will be available to purchase the Buy Art Fair. (Image of Teeth attached, price £450).
Eyestorm’s creative director Angie Davey said: “At this year’s Buy Art Fair Eyestorm will be showcasing a selection of high quality, signed works by both established and emerging artists at affordable prices.
“We’ve specifically chosen works that will be perfect for a first time buy, whether you have £100 to spend or are looking to invest in something more substantial.”
Emin International is exhibiting at The Manchester Contemporary – which runs alongside the Buy Art Fair – and will be selling limited edition prints by Tracey Emin.
John Dare, director of the Buy Art Fair, said: “It’s fantastic that the galleries exhibiting at the Buy Art Fair have such a high standard of work for sale. Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin and Banksy are some of the most popular modern British artists today, and prints are an affordable way to kick off an art collection.”
In addition to the 60 galleries selling contemporary art, there will be talks on all aspects of art and art-buying, plus Cornerhouse will be featuring a book store at the event, selling an impressive range of contemporary art books, DVDs and prints.
