Roy Alexander will be demonstrating at the gallery this weekend, why not come along and pop in for a chat and to watch him at work. He is such a talented artist not to be missed.
Roy works mainly in watercolour, his work focuses on painting buildings and townscapes of around Liverpool, he also produces scenes of Cornish villages and harbours and also steam engines . Roy says that his architectural training commands him to portray the buildings he paints accurately and his understanding of watercolour enables him to express the textural features of the buildings through the paint itself.
He says that he wants the observer to look at his paintings and feel the nature of the building fabric. He likes busy complicated street scenes with intricately detailed buildings and lots of people which he expresses as splashes of colour. Look out for his signature ‘red’.”
Roy has been exhibiting and selling his work at the gallery for a few years. Alison Dooley, gallery owner says “Roy’s work still amazes people that come through the door all the time. His work is admired on so many levels, his strong architectural influence makes them very individual and distinctive. I’ve watched Roy paint and he does it with such ease, his talent is obvious.”
