Immix is a collaboration of innovative musical voices from across Liverpool and the North West. Drawing on the talents of some of the region’s finest instrumentalists, this new music ensemble aims to champion the work of forward thinking composers, songwriters, bands and sound artists, and to cast a spotlight on emerging talent, with an emphasis on artists whose work slips between the cracks of style and genre. For the first concert of this series, critically acclaimed mallet-guitar trio Ex-Easter Island Head join forces with talented young composer Joseph Hillyard to create musical responses to The Negligent Eye exhibition. For a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of this music, visit http://immix-ensemble.tumblr.
Immix is: Jonathan Aasgaard – cello, Jonathan Guy – bass clarinet, Rakhi Singh – violin, Daniel Thorne – saxophone, Michael Walsh – oboe. It has been developed as part of a Metal Time and Space residency and is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
