SUMMER HOLIDAY FUN – Free events at National Museums Liverpool

This summer National Museums Liverpool is bursting with free activities to keep the entire family entertained. From teenage jewellery master classes to performances by the fab four, museums and galleries keep holiday boredom at bay.

Walker Art Gallery
Women of the Walker Art Gallery
24 July, 18 August, 1 September 2007

1pm, 2pm & 3pm Join our character led session and find out more about the female artists featured in the Walker’s collection.

Teenage Jewellery Master Class
9 August 2007
11-1.30pm or 2.30-5pm (ages 14-18) Artist Gilly Langton leads this fun session especially for teenagers. Pick up some tips and make your own stunning piece of jewellery inspired by the exhibition Unnatural Selection: Jewellery, objects and sculpture by Peter Chang currently on display at the Walker.

World Museum Liverpool
World Museum Liverpool’s free planetarium allows visitors to blast off on a spectacular journey through space and time, learning about the Universe on the way. Shows cover various aspects of space science, including our Solar System, space exploration and special children’s shows.

Treasure House Theatre
Discover the amazing stories behind the treasures in World Museum Liverpool through music, dance, busy workshops and fascinating films that will entertain the whole family and bring the museum’s awesome collection life. Specially trained members of staff can answer your questions and help you handle intriguing objects. Using the latest technology the theatre will let you get closer to our collection than ever before.

1.30, 2.30 & 3.30pm Calling all over 8s to have fun whilst learning with our mini-archaeological dig. Help us find buried pieces of pottery and then put them back together.

Mosaics for beginners workshop
2 August 2007
1-4pm Your chance to design and make your own mosaic panel while learning some simple skills and techniques. Limited places please pre-book.
Our conservators open their studios for you to visit. These 30 minute tours have limited places so please pre-book.

10.30am-4pm Summer Courses for Young People. This is a week-long course for young people between 11 and 16 who want to explore their artistic side. Sketching, outdoor painting, art history and photography will all play a part during this week of activities.

Mask making

1-4pm Be inspired by the exhibition Masquerade: the work of James Ensor and make a mask of your own to take home. The whole family is welcome for this fun filled activity.

Seaside Storytelling
