It’s time to party – and everyone’s invited! Residents and visitors will be enjoying the carnival atmosphere when the St.Helens International Festival hits town centre streets on Saturday 16 July 2011.
The free event, organised by St.Helens Council in partnership with Radio City 96.7FM, will be one of the many highlights of the 2011 festival programme across Merseyside.
Artists from Europe, Africa and Asia – provided by Brouhaha International, the North West arts and cultural development agency – will perform a vibrant mix of music, dance and street entertainment.
Belmont Freetown Arts Company (Trinidad) – Caribbean dance
Got Skills (Netherlands) – Urban dance
Ballet Entredanzas (Spain) – Ballet
Cre8 (Norway) – Hip Hop dance
Pentas 3 Jiwa (Malaysia) – Street theatre
Tabanka Crew (Norway) – Contemporary and traditional African dance
Association Capoeria (France) – Mix of Brazilian martial arts, sports & music.
Taurin Cirkus (Hungary) – Circus act
La Paranza del Geco (Italy) – a mixture of Italian folk Music, Dance and commedia dell’art.
Street entertainment will be provided by Fools Paradise, the UK’s premier agency for street performance, and include:
Black Eagles – acrobatic and dance
The Incredible Ramos Family – acrobatic show
Dan the Hat – Juggling
Fairly Famous Family – Comedy Tennis
Gorillas – children’s street entertainment
There will also be a host of art workshops for children to get involved in.
