Another 100+ artworks in the latest group show at LAA. This time the theme is sport.
So there’s lots of paintings of scary horses, golf, cricket, surfing, wrestling, rugby, even Frisbee throwing and of course football. These watercolour portraits of Liverpool footballers by Peter Shaw are quite good.
Lots of medals, flags, posters and other memorabilia. I’m showing some of the Everton items here because I feel sorry for them. The exhibition was opened by Dave Hickson who, I believe, is the only footballer to have played for Everton, Liverpool and Tranmere Rovers.
As well as Tom Murphy’s football-related sculptures there are several of Graham Jenkinson’s more playful works made from reclaimed metal.
At Liverpool Academy of Arts in the former paint warehouse, 32 Seel Street until June 8 2007
