Showcase – Student Art Exhibition at the Walker

Showcase, an exhibition of A-level art students’ work, goes on display at the Walker Art Gallery from 9 – 31 July, 2009.

Created as part of the Find Your Talent initiative, three secondary schools from each of the target areas have worked with the gallery to display the talents of their A-Level students.

Young People from Sutton Sports College, All Saints Catholic High School and North Liverpool Academy have been given the once-in-a-lifetime chance to see their work exhibited in one of the country’s leading art galleries

Each school has created art work with different themes and in different mediums. Sutton Sports College explore the theme of sanctuary, All Saints Catholic High School have worked with artists in residence and North Liverpool Academy have produced a series of stunning digital images. The diversity in their artistic approaches and influences provides a broad range of art work on display, including drawings, paintings, photographs and sculpture.

Carol Rogers, Executive Director Of Visitor Services for National Museums Liverpool said: ‘This exhibition is a great example of what Find Your Talent is all about – young people being given the chance to explore their creativity under the guidance of an outstanding cultural institution such as the Walker Art Gallery. It is a fantastic opportunity for the students involved and I’m delighted that National Museums Liverpool has been able to play its part in broadening the horizons of our young people.’
