I’ve been having great fun with this. Of course, I’m too old to enter the competition which is for 11-16 yr olds but anyone can still submit their designs to go into the online gallery.
You can also use the old-fashioned method of colouring in on paper templates in the Bluecoat.
There’ll be a different competition each month until October 2008.
The Bluecoat in association with Yorkshire Bank is launching a major new project for Liverpool’s Capital of Culture year, designed to give hundreds of people across Merseyside and beyond the chance to get creative with a bright new initiative, ‘Shine at the Bluecoat’.
Shine is a monthly changing activity that anyone can do – in the building, at home or even on-line at www.shineatthebluecoat.org.uk and it all starts in April with a challenge to design a special Superlambanana.
And if you are aged 11-16 years, you can enter a monthly competition. Six winners in each category will be able to polish their skills by taking part in a weekend master class. This is a dream chance to get hands-on guidance from top professional artists, craftspeople, musicians and authors and develop top skills.
As each monthly activity is announced participants will be able to access helps and hints before they submit their entry.
The best of the winners of the monthly Shine competitions will be brought together as the best of Young Liverpool in a fabulous showcase event to be held at the Bluecoat towards the end of 2008.
Even if you are not aged 11-16 you can still take part, just send in your creations to the Bluecoat or upload via the website. Each month Shine at the Bluecoat will show a selection of these at www.shineatthebluecoat.org.uk
Shine at the Bluecoat is produced in association with Yorkshire Bank under an exciting new sponsorship deal that has enabled the development of an innovative participatory activity at the Bluecoat.
