We’ll need to take our umbrellas but should be a good gig for lovers of music and/or science fiction this afternoon. Good to see the Rockscape re-opening for the first time since the Biennial.

LITERARY LAUNCH AT CITY’S ROCKSCAPE AMPHITHEATRE FOR “SUPER SCIENCE FICTION” DEBUT FROM THE SEAL CUB CLUBBING CLUB

Saturday 25 April, 12 Noon – 4pm

The Seal Cub Clubbing Club will launch their debut album, Super Science Fiction at a special FREE outdoor gig at the City’s ‘Rockscape’ amphitheatre, Renshaw Street on Saturday 25 April, 12 Noon – 4pm.

The event will see the band playing songs from the new album due to be released on 4th May, with ‘support’ from a host of local literary talent and The Reader Organisation, to promote the band’s interest in reading and creative writing.”

The Seal Cub Clubbing Club will be performing with a number of special guests, including: up and coming short story writer, ZOE LAMBERT, legendary Wirral Horror writer, RAMSEY CAMPBELL and screenwriter & novelist FRANK COTTRELL BOYCE.

Nik Glover lead singer, commented, “We love books and reading and we are made up that some truly great local writers want to share our love of fiction and help celebrate the launch of our debut album.”

Excitingly compared to both Clinic and the Arctic Monkeys, THE SEAL CUB CLUBBING CLUB are making striking claims to be a 21st Century Talking Heads with lyrics that define their relationship to the Wirral, Liverpool and contemporary life.

‘ROCKSCAPE’ was a key public realm work as part of Liverpool Biennial 2008’s MADE UP exhibition. It was designed by Japanese architects Atelier Bow-Wow and is now being managed by local events company The Jamm Factory to provide a city centre outdoor venue for music.”
