ROLF RETURNS TO THE WALKER

Special book signing event takes place on Saturday 14 July
Rolf Harris will return to the Walker Art Gallery on Saturday 14 July for a special book-signing event.

The exhibition, Rolf Harris: Can You Tell What It Is Yet? has achieved record breaking visitor figures since opening last month and runs until 12 August.

The star returns to the Walker next month for the signing session. Doors will open at 10am and places are strictly first come first served. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Media are invited to photograph/film the event for the first 15 minutes of the signing session. Unfortunately Rolf will not be available for interviews on the day due to time constraints. Please confirm attendance in advance with Dickie Felton 0151 478 4779 / 07706 166 787.

Sandra Penketh, Director of Art Galleries said: “This has been the most popular exhibition we’ve ever staged at the Walker and we are thrilled Rolf is returning on 14 July to meet visitors at the signing.

“Rolf’s book signing event on the opening weekend of the exhibition attracted nearly 4,000 people which was the busiest Saturday for The Walker since records began. We are sure this latest event will prove as popular.”

Rolf Harris: Can You Tell What It Is Yet? is the first major UK exhibition to explore Rolf’s life and work. It features an eclectic range of paintings, memorabilia and much more from the UK’s best selling published artist and well loved entertainer.

The original works on display range from Rolf’s early days as a student to paintings he created at lightning speed in front of a TV camera. The exhibition also includes some of his most impressive and well known pieces, such as his iconic portrait of Her Majesty The Queen, painted in 2005 to mark her 80th birthday.

The exhibition includes self-portraits, portraits, paintings of wildlife, urban and rural landscapes and studies of people and everyday life from home and abroad. The range of subjects reflects the wide range of experiences and locations that Rolf has encountered in his personal life and his long and illustrious career.

Since his last visit to the Walker last month Rolf Harris has received a BAFTA for his contribution to television and the arts, performed at the Queen’s spectacular Diamond Jubilee Concert and was made an Officer of the Order of Australia.
