The World in One School:
The History and Influence of the Liverpool School of Architecture 1894-2008
April 4 to April 30 2008
The World in One School is a travelling exhibition. Its ambition is to demonstrate the important role that the Liverpool School of Architecture has played as Britain’s oldest university school of architecture – on both a national and an international level – for well over 100 years.
Since its foundation in 1894 in the University of Liverpool, the School has helped influence British architectural training, drawing students from all corners of the globe and sending them out to shape the built environment at all levels, from the small scale individual building, through to major town and city planning schemes. Remarkably, Liverpool has no less than six former graduates and staff who have been awarded the Royal Gold Medal for Architecture, and many others have won other national and international accolades.
