Renegade Cinema – a call to arms! 16th April at FACT

For those people interested in short film exhibition and independent cinema spaces, come and join in the discussion at FACT tomorrow. Thursday 16 April 2009.
A Small Cinema will be one of 5 groups presenting their projects and will be hoping to raise the question of what Liverpool needs in order to develop a sustainable and networked film-making culture.

Cinema is facing extinction! Can renegade networks revive it? Eschewing traditional economic models, artists, filmmakers and activists are creating their own volunteer-run screening spaces, and in the process producing some of the most exciting film programming today. Here, as part of FACT’s Climate for Change exhibition, we invite several collectives to discuss the political and artistic possibilities of these self-organised temples of cinephilia. Participants include Cube (Bristol), Cinenova (Brussels), Star and Shadow (Newcastle), A Small Cinema (Liverpool) and Manchester Film Co-operative.
