SATURDAY 27 November 2010 08.00 – 20.00 at 12-14 Market St, Hoylake
Pop up gallery brings local graduate art on show.
Wirral’s Ian Birch will be marking the launch of his online art store, The Root Gallery, with an exhibition open for just one day.
Affordable art from the best graduate and undergraduate artists, including many from Wirral, will be on display and available to buy.
The event, on Saturday 27 November from 8am to 8pm, is open to everyone. Attendees will also be entered in to a prize draw to be in with the chance of winning their own work of art.
Ian, 37, himself a graduate in fine art from the Glasgow School of Art has started up his new online gallery having left his job working in the construction Industry.
Ian says: “We’re really excited about the launch. Pop up galleries and restaurants, which are open for a matter of hours, have become really popular in the likes of London and New York, so it’s great to mark the launch of our website with something a bit different.”
Ian’s thinking behind The Root Gallery is to offer affordable art from talented young students and graduates; giving a good deal to both customers and artists.
Ian continues: “I’ve come back to art, which is my passion, after spending six years working as a technical engineer”
“As an art graduate myself, I know all about how hard it is to get up and running after leaving university. I also know how exceptional some student and graduate artists are and how some of their work will become real investment pieces in future.
“At the launch, and afterwards on our website, people can pick up a great piece of art whilst also supporting young artists, many of whom have come from local art schools such as Wirral Met.”
Anyone can come along to the opening event. Alternatively go online to The Root Gallery’s new website at www.therootgallery.co.uk.
