Liverpool Biennial and Liverpool John Moores University presented a weekend of talks and events picking apart Liverpool’s imperial legacy through the lens of contemporary design. The two aren’t obvious partners, even now, but the talks and tours of the day, particularly at RIBA North, had big ambitions.
Liverpool’s gallery for new architecture, RIBA North, was the biggest winner, finding themselves at the core of one of Biennial 2018’s building block events. The gallery is becoming more a part of Liverpool’s culture offer with every move, so it’s good to see it at the centre of this two day session.
Biennial and LJMU were the experts here though, doing everything they could to prove that great understanding can be found in great design.
