Oliver Braid Exhibition at Southport Arts Centre

Straight From the Juggler
An Exhibition of New Work by Oliver Braid
Southport Arts Centre

January 10 – February 28 2008

(All art must be brought forth with your heart’s blood – Edvard Munch)
Inspired by wide ranging forms of psychic interpretation and the theatrical settings of the exhibition space itself, Oliver Braid will present seven new artworks, displayed publicly for the first time.

Re-mixing historical and atmospheric imagery alongside contemporary cultural characters, the exhibition will comprise elements of portraiture, symbolic surrealism and influences of modernist aesthetic to create works which toy with concepts of mysticism present in artistic intention and practice.

Oliver Braid was born in Birmingham in 1984. He graduated from Falmouth College of Arts in 2006 and is currently based in Liverpool. Recent exhibitions have included ‘A Proper Horrorshow’ (A series of collaborative artworks with Roxy Topia, first shown at Redwire Gallery, Liverpool) and ‘Wunderkammer’ (A curatorial project for Bluecoat Display Centre, Liverpool).
