Free Christmas fun for all the family
This Christmas, National Museums Liverpool will be hosting free Christmas themed events for all the family over the holiday period to help spread some festive cheer.
 
Christmas Shopping Night
Lady Lever Art Gallery
December 3
5.30 – 8.30pm (extended opening time)  
Join in the festive fun at the Lady Lever Art Gallery and celebrate Christmas with music, food, drink, sparkling decorations and gift ideas.
Whether buying for yourself or others, there is plenty to choose from in the gallery shop including poster prints, books, costume, fashion, jewellery, stationery, toiletries and cards. While you look for gifts you will be treated to a complimentary glass of mulled wine and a mince pie, serenaded by St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School choir in the main hall.
The cafe will also be open, serving hot festive traditional baguettes, drinks and snacks.
From 1 to 24 December, Christmas lunches are also available in the café but booking is essential so please call 0151 478 4138 to reserve a table.
 
Victorian Christmas
Lady Lever Art Gallery
December 7
10am – 5pm               
Come along to a Christmas market in Port Sunlight village and take part in our Victorian Christmas. Celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas at the Lady Lever Art Gallery where you can create Victorian Christmas crafts such as cards, decorations and paper lanterns, while Port Sunlight Museum & Garden Village is hosting a Christmas Market where you can make sweet smelling pomanders and paper snowflakes.

A Dickens of a Christmas Carol
World Museum Liverpool
December 2 – 4, 9 – 11, 28 and 29

Join us for a performance of Charles Dickens’ classic tale A Christmas Carol with our resident actor. As well as taking on several of the unforgettable characters, he will also play Charles Dickens himself who will tell you the tale of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge.
This multi media interactive performance for all the family invites you to join in the party with carol singing and one lucky young audience member will be asked to play Tiny Tim.
 
Victorian Christmas
Walker Art Gallery
December 6
11am – 4pm
Festive customs from Victorian times will be revived at the Walker Art Gallery with a Victorian Christmas. Visitors of all ages can get involved with craft activities such as making lanterns and cornucopias. There will also be activities on offer for small children including Big Art Christmas card crafts (for ages three and above) and a festive trail around the gallery to find paintings (for children over the age of five).
Adults can enjoy a tour of the Walker with Dr Paul O’Keefe who will tell the story of the gallery’s history and creation, which will also focus on some of the early acquisitions for its collection (12.30pm and 2.30pm).


Children over the age of three can get into the festive mood and enjoy Christmas storytelling (11.30am, 2pm and 3.30pm), while older children (aged seven and above) will be entertained with a Victorian music performance from musician Peter Bull who will play a variety of Victorian music using traditional instruments (1pm, 2pm, 3pm).*

Carols around the Christmas tree
Sudley House

Everyone is welcome to join us for a good old sing-song, with an afternoon of traditional Christmas carols around the tree at Sudley House to bring back memories of times gone by.
                                                                                                                                 
Christmas Boxes
National Conservation Centre

Adults can indulge their crafty side with this fantastic workshop inspiring a traditional approach to Christmas wrapping. Learning how to make festive boxes in all shapes and sizes, you can use the boxes you make to package your presents in an extra special way this Christmas, with a personal touch that can be used to wrap presents all year round!*

Online Advent Calendar & E-Cards
National Museums Liverpool is also celebrating Christmas virtually with an online advent calendar which can be accessed at www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/online/advent/ . Live from 1 December 2008 this fun interactive feature counts down the days to Christmas, spreading festive cheer online throughout December.
