New artists added to Liverpool & Knowsley Book Art Exhibition

The Liverpool & Knowsley Book Art Exhibition
is now open in Kirkby Gallery.

Following the launch in Liverpool Central Library earlier this year,
The Liverpool & Knowsley Book Art Exhibition: Frankenstein will be exhibited in Kirkby Gallery until 26 January 2019. In addition to the work from Liverpool, there are additional artists and exciting new work specially commissioned for Knowsley

The theme of the exhibition marks 200 years since the first edition ofMary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus was published.

Book artists from around the world have responded to the theme of Frankenstein with a hugely creative range of ideas.  Some have been stimulated by the themes in the book; others have been inspired by the way the story is told; others have made links between Frankenstein and other classic stories such as Dracula and The Golem.

Mural in the making
Award winning illustrator and muralist Matthew Frame will be working in the gallery this week (until 21 September) creating a specially commissioned artwork ‘Sacrifice/Mutation/Technology’ as part of the exhibition – pop into the gallery to see how the artwork is progressing.
