Museum reaches the final of The National Lottery Awards

International Slavery Museum is celebrating reaching the finals of The National Lottery Awards 2009.

The museum is the only project in Liverpool and the North West in the Best Heritage Project category and is competing against just two other projects for the chance to win the award, decided by a public vote.

Public voting is now open until midday on Friday 14 August. Votes can be made online by visiting the National Lottery Good Causes website: and selecting the Best Heritage Project category, or by calling 0844 686 6957*

Three Arts Projects Reach Finals of The National Lottery Awards 2009

Three UK-based art organisations have been named as finalists in the Best Arts Project category of The National Lottery Awards 2009.

The National Lottery Awards are an annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects. The three projects:
•    The Odyssey Theatre, in Cardiff, which brings together avid drama-lovers, including people with learning disabilities and students from a special needs school, runs weekly drama workshops and stages annual performances
•    Sefton Performing Arts and Creative Education Centre, in Liverpool, offers young people a place to develop their skills in drama, dance, music, visual arts and new media, helping them to build their confidence and abilities
•, a website that provides information about subtitled and audio described film screenings taking place around the UK, enabling people with sight or hearing problems to enjoy the big screen experience
have battled their way through to the final stage and now go head-to-head for the title of the UK’s favourite arts project and collect prize money of £2,000  to spend on their project.

The projects now need the public to vote for them.
