Museum Event at Toxteth Town Hall – 10 Sep 2010

The Museum of Liverpool team will be taking part in a special event this Friday, 10 September at Toxteth Town Hall as part of the national Heritage Open Days events from 10:30am – 4pm.

The team are looking to learn more from local people, about the places in Toxteth which are important to local history, as part of their research in developing an interactive map of Merseyside for the new Museum of Liverpool which opens in 2011.

People are invited to come along with old postcards, photographs, local newspapers or magazines, or other objects which tell us something about important places in Toxteth’s past. The team can scan photographs and paper material, and would like to hear about the specific places they represent from the public through their stories and memories.

The event will also include the following talks:

2:40pm – A talk from Dr Clem Fisher about Toxteth Deer Park

3pm – A sneak peak of the Merseyside Interactive Map, which will give visitors to the new museum the chance to learn about history in their local areas. This talk will also provide the chance for people to tell the team what they think, and suggest places in the area which should be included.
