A massive £35 million project has doubled the size of the popular museum - an attraction in the city since 1851. The World Museum Liverpool features expanded galleries and improved facilities including the dazzling World Cultures gallery, the fascinating Bug House where visitors will encounter giant model insects, the new stunning Aquarium and the Weston Discovery Centre, Clore Natural History Centre and Treasure House Theatre with their thrilling hands-on experiences.

Their Past, Your Future

26 July to 4 September 2005

Through printed displays, audio-visual material and other media, this travelling exhibition will invite visitors to explore both the immediate and long-term impact of WW2 on the UK ’s people and landscape.

Mongolian Buddhism

6 August to 2 October 2005

A small exhibition by Liverpool photographer Barbara Hind portraying Mongolian religion and contemporary society. Barbara has exhibited her work in Germany , Australia and Japan and in 2002 was invited by the Dalai Lama’s Cultural Palace to hold an exhibition at the India International Centre.

Specially trained members of staff can answer your questions and will help you handle specially chosen items. Using up to the minute technology the theatre will let you get closer to our collections than ever before.

Death on the Nile

An atmospheric family show with interaction from the visitor. Witness a re-enacted mummification scene & discover how bodies were preserved in Ancient Egypt. Family show.

Samurai Amour

An informal demonstration about how Japanese Samurai Armour was worn between the late 15 th and 16 th Centuries. Learn step by step how the famous Lord Oda put on his armour, and the significance of each item.
