Housing the collection of soap magnate William Hesketh Lever, the first Lord Leverhulme. The gallery is famous for its Pre-Raphaelite paintings, 18th century furniture and Wedgwood collection. Named in memory of Lever's wife, the gallery forms the centrepiece of the garden village Lever built for his workforce. 

Exhibitions

Beside the Seaside – British Impressionist Painting

14 May to 4 September 2005

A small exhibition of late 19 th and early 20 th century paintings celebrating and recording fun and leisure by the sea. Including work by British artists inspired by the French Impressionists such as Walter Sickert, Philip Wilson Steer and Dame Laura Knight.

This display is part of Sea Liverpool 2005 and the national Sea Britain celebrations.
