Manchester Craft & Design (MCAD) is a registered charity responsible for managing Manchester Craft & Design Centre (MCDC). We provide studio / retail spaces for c.35 creative businesses, and wider development opportunities for artists and makers at various career stages. Our high-quality exhibitions and events programme promotes regional, national and international craft and design. MCDC is the only urban studio in the UK that is open to the public all year-round where visitors can be inspired by established designer-makers and stars of the future, explore exhibitions by leading artists, learn new skills at our hands-on workshops and relax in our café.

MCAD is about to embark on its next stage of development, and has secured funding through Arts Council England’s National Portfolio for 2018-22. The Development Officer is a vital new role in MCAD’s team, and our first ever specialist fundraising post.

The post-holder will be responsible for producing and implementing a credible revenue fundraising plan with ambitious but realistic targets, with an emphasis on increasing income from trusts, foundations and individual supporters. You’ll take the lead on building relationships with funders and donors to support engagement with MCAD’s work and future plans. Working closely with the Director, you will generate revenue and project income to help increase long-term resilience in line with our Business Plan 2018-22.

We are looking for candidates with at least two years of arts/charity fundraising experience, including trusts and foundations, individual donors and business supporters. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and project management skills, and a resourceful and entrepreneurial approach.
