Now for some good news!
The Liverpool Discovers public art trail launched yesterday with an event at St George’s Hall.
Liverpool Discovers celebrates the greatest stories seldom told about one of the world’s most interesting and best-loved cities.
Liverpool, St Helens and Wirral will be animated by a trail of fun, quirky and informative public art installations. Created by exceptional artists, the trail will take us on a journey of discovery to explore each of the different quarters of the city while learning more about the events and people that made this city so special.
We haven’t been round all of the installations yet but I enjoyed having a go on Stephenson’s Destinator which was devised to give people some idea of what it would be like to travel on a train when they were first invented and many feared that their heads would explode if the travelled at 30mph!
We also listened to lampposts outside the Hilton hotel – you need to get close up as they’re very quietly playing music and other audio pieces, I think it’s just alternate ones that are part of this Echoes & Whispers ‘juke box’.
The X-Ray related installation at the bottom of Bold street looks fantastic, it’s illuminated so I’d like to see it at night.
