National Sculpture Prize 2008

The winner of the cash prize will be announced on Friday 5th September at 6pm

Work by the six artists who have been shortlisted for this competition will be exhibited at Bluecoat Display Centre Two.

Doug Jones: Inservi Deo et Laetare. Exhibition: 15 August to 11 September 2008
As a child from a long family line of Freemasons, Jones has always been fascinated by the secret aprons his father kept in a box in the study, and the books which detailed the ceremonies the Masons performed behind closed doors.

Lever the Collector
The Lady Lever Art Gallery was founded by William Hesketh Lever (1851-1925) and is dedicated to the memory of his wife Elizabeth. The gallery contains the best of his personal art collection.

A new permanent display open from 5 July 2008, the Lever the Collector gallery, introduces the man and his collections, telling the story of how he built the gallery.

Masterpiece Watercolours and Drawings

This exhibition comprises fifty British drawings and watercolours from the significant collections of the Lady Lever Art Gallery. The most attractive and important works have been selected from a group of around 300, including those by JMW Turner, David Cox, Peter de Wint, Edward Burne- Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti.

Ben Johnson - The Liverpool Cityscape
