The Design Department is an award-winning department with a long and established history. It is home to the most outstanding thinkers, doers, makers, designers, creatives, artists, creative leaders and educators.
The department values and fosters a highly integrative approach of research and enterprise combined with learning and teaching. We encourage the cross-pollination of ideas, processes and people. We always aim for the highest standards in what we do. Navigating our way through culture, we observe, think and act. We challenge the conventional and are always professional. We work in new exploratory creative ways and enhance the quality of our lives.
Manchester School of Art is a pioneer of art and design education in the UK and offers a broad range of architecture, art, design, media and theatre courses.
Experimentation and collaboration are at the heart of what we do and our award-winning Benzie Building opened as part of our 175th anniversary confirms this approach – encouraging staff and students to work across disciplines and explore common ground. Our heritage demonstrates a strong connection to the cultural identity and economic development of Manchester and we remain committed to helping the City to be internationally competitive. Manchester has always been a city where innovation was encouraged and it is our mission to help this to continue.
The Illustration with Animation subject area is rooted firmly in the tradition of drawing and the individuality this discipline instils, while embracing the potential of the multi-platform outcomes that contemporary practice brings. Student ambitions are realised through a research informed questioning of practice that embraces a broad range of potential outcomes on page or screen.
We also enjoy working in an inspiring and challenging creative design community, which fosters an inter-disciplinary approach to design education for our staff and our students.
Experience of teaching at HE level is essential. The successful candidate should have an ongoing personal / professional practice. Excellent knowledge of current Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is essential with After Effects/Premiere Pro highly desirable.
You will also contribute to research and scholarly activity, which will contribute to the development of new areas in Illustration with Animation and design.
