Photo: Julia Baird in front of Alex Corina’s ‘Beatles Reunited’ print
This was good because I was able to have a quick look round the Beatles Story museum free of charge and ended up in the fake Cavern where Alex Corina launched his latest Beatles-related print as well as other merchandise using his ‘Mona Lennon’ creation.
Also there, was Julia Baird (Lennon’s sister) who had some strong words about the Grosvenor project (they ‘buggered’ Chester apparently) but was also full of praise for the work that Alex is doing to regenerate Garston (where Julia grew up) through the Garston Cultural Village project.
The print showcases The Beatles reunited for one famous last gig at the Cavern, joining the hundreds of thousands of people who make the pilgrimage annually to Liverpool. Depicting The Beatles as they were in the ‘60s, it combines Corina’s famous ‘Mona Lennon’ design and frames the four lads from Liverpool in a classical ornate frame, as if featuring in a masterpiece.
Liverpool ’08 Collectables
The Liverpool ’08 Collectables range is exquisitely made from Bone China and has been delicately decorated by hand.
Inspired by Liverpool ’08, Artists Alex Corina and Chris Vine were commissioned by Art Works to produce a series of stunning images to launch the Limited Edition Collectables Plaques and Mugs series. This beautiful series includes the Mona Lennon (Alex Corina) and Meccano Liver Bird (Chris Vine).
