Kandinsky on Stage at LIPA

Kandinsky on Stage at LIPA | Hope Street, Liverpool.

It was fascinating to see this stage set inspired by Kandinsky and amazing when you consider many of the students had never built anything before. That piano actually plays! This is the first year they have opened up to the public, we got there just before it was closing and about to be all thrown out. I hope its an annual event.

The Paul McCartney Auditorium at LIPA was transformed as first year Theatre and Performance Design and Technology students invited people to view their first completed project.

Taking their inspiration from Russian abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky, they created a range of 3D installations and sets for you to examine and explore. The exhibition demonstrates their skills in model making, technical drawing, scenic construction, scene-painting and lighting and gives a fascinating insight in to the creativity and artistry involved in theatre design and technology.
