Jail in Turkey for collage shown in Liverpool gallery?

British artist, Michael Dickinson, was found guilty today in Istanbul of insulting the Turkish Prime Minister, Tayyip Erdogan, with a collage showing his head on a dog’s body attached to a stars and stripes leash.

Dickinson said he would refuse to pay a fine and was told he could face up to two years in jail. The judge delayed final sentence till March.

The collage “Good Boy”, which Dickinson displayed in Istanbul, was shown in Liverpool’s View Two Gallery in November 2008 in the Stuckist show “An Antidote to the Ghastly Turner Prize“.

Michael Dickinson is a member of the Stuckist art movement and a founder of the Istanbul Stuckists.
