3 – 28 August 2009
Closing event: Friday 28 August, 18.00 – 20.00 (more details)
The UnClaimed Photograph exhibition aims to reunite a sack of lost photographs with their owners or relations. The Photographs were rescued from a skip on Wood Street, when the Samson Camera Shop closed down earlier this year, and go as far back as the 1930’s (people getting reprints of family photos) all the way through the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, upto recently.
This fascinating collection of photos provides an amazing insight into the lives of local people, their holidays, celebrations and day-to-day sights through a very personal documentary format.
About the Unclaimed Photograph project:
The exhibition will be open to the public weekday afternoons in August from 3 to 6pm, and we are inviting local people to come and hunt for familiar faces and places in the photographs.
The exhibition will culminate in a closing event on Friday 28 August, 18.00 – 20.00 where visitors will be invited back and have opportunity to take photos away with them.
