Calderstones Park - Drawn from Life 22 - 28 February 2010 Works from Life and Memory is a group show of drawings, paintings, sculpture, print and glass. Demonstrations of crafts such as stone carving, drawing and painting will take place in the week. Selected artists from Merseyside have come together to make an exhibit of works primarily drawn from life.

Chinese New Year 2010 - Year of the Tiger. Liverpool City Centre Celebrations Liverpool is to host an extra special Chinese New Year party this weekend to celebrate the 10th anniversary of twinning with Shanghai. On Sunday 21 Feb from 11.30 Chinatown area, which will be dressed in red with Chinese style flags and special lighting, welcomes in the Year of the Tiger with the spectacular fire cracker display at 1.00 pm at Great George Square (at the end of Nelson Street) a key highlight.

The Liverpool Map exhibition 15-26 February 2010 An exhibition charting the creation of a new art work that will stand in the Museum of Liverpool opens at the Daily Post offices on Old Hall Street, Liverpool. Created by international artists Inge Paneels and Jeffery Sarmiento, the sculpture will be made up of 5ft-tall panels of glass. The exhibition includes photographs used in the piece’s manufacture and samples of glass showing how it will be fused together.

We are still here keeping an eye on any arty happenings over the festive period and ensuring you are kept fully up to date but it should be a more relaxing couple of weeks than the past 50 or so.
2009 has been another very busy year for culture and it looks like 2010 will be even more exciting with some blockbuster exhibitions and the 2010 Liverpool Biennial.
