‘…Quite Charming’. A Richard Young Retrospective Exhibition 27 June - 18 July 2008 A retrospective of works by Richard (Dick) Young (1921 - 2003) legendary Liverpool denizen and artist. His own master as a painter, he held on to his own individuality, free from external pressure, despite dramatic changes in artistic practice during his colourful lifetime.
Once known as ‘ Liverpool’s best kept secret’, Young was an artist who relished the life of the practitioner and into which he poured hisenergy. This exhibition is a unique and rare opportunity to witness the works of one of Liverpool’s most talented andunsung characters. If he had been asked about such a show, close friends of Young’s would have anticipated a well rehearsed riposte of ‘…quite Charming!’
