statement: | My work seeks to find and explore the beauty of my surroundings be it wildlife floral or landscape subjects. The contrast of light and dark or interesting reflections in a composition draw me to paint it. I have been painting since an early age and now since retiring from a job in calibration, where I worked for 24 years, I find I at last have the time to improve my techniques and be bold with subject matter. I work mainly with acrylics but always used to paint in oils. I find acrylics very fluid to use because they allow me to work rapidly on a piece so that my thoughts have free rein to flow unhindered. I desperately want to explore new techniques with acrylic media which I intend to do for the future. I also produce some watercolour paintings, I love the translucency of the colours and the different effects you can achieve as opposed to acrylics.
