statement: | I am a fine artist and illustrator working in an Impressionistic painting technique on canvas. I offer services including portraits of family and friends from photos, landscape paintings and traditional illustrations. I work in acrylics on canvas board or stretched canvas. I build up colour in multiple layers to create optical mixes, and favour scenes with striking contrasts of light and shadow. I work in acrylics rather than oils, as this enables me to work quickly and spontaneously without worrying about drying times. I have completed illustration work for book covers, greeting cards, advertisements, magazine editorials and food packaging. My clients include Hallmark Cards, Carlton Cards, BBC Worldwide, NatWest Bank and Random House. In 2003 I held a one-man show at Liverpool Academy of Arts which featured landscape paintings of Liverpool and Wirral landmarks.
