Ice-cool design show

Over 20 Icelandic artists and designers will take part in the ICE COOL Exhibition. A great variety of Art and Designer items will be on display, from Jewellery and Handbags to Furniture and Paintings. All items at the exhibition will be for sale.

The exhibition is open Friday 30th of November – Sunday 2nd of December, 10am-7pm. Daily Post and Echo Building Old Hall Street, Liverpool L3.

Short story competition

Created by ICE07 with selected schools on Merseyside, winning entries will be exhibited alongside drawings by the pupils at The Albert Dock. ICE07 has invited guest judges Icelandic Booker prize winner Andri Snaer Magnason, Margret Torp and Mike McCartney to decide on winners. Prizes of trips to Iceland to see the original Sagas are provided courtesy of The Icelandic Tourist Board, winners to be announced at 2pm at The Icelandic Service, Sunday 1st December, St Nicholas

A special Icelandic Service to celebrate Iceland’s first Cultural Events Festival here in Liverpool, and Icelandic Independence Day. The Service will be lead by Rev. Sigurdur Arnarsson the Icelandic Chaplain in London and Fr. Atli Jonsson from Southport. The Icelandic Ambassador in the United Kingdom, Sverrir Haukur Gunnlaugsson will preach. The Icelandic Choir from London and Formby High School will both be performing, conducted by Gisli Magnusson and Steve Cook.

Prizes for the ICE07 Short Story Competition will be announced

Visual art

Photographic works by Ragnar Axelsson and Hafdis Bennett on show at Albert Docks Liverpool. Ragnar Axelsson is one of Iceland’s most celebrated lensmen – capturing the fierce beauty of his homeland in a series of stunning monochrome photographs. He has exhibited across the globe, to universal acclaim. This is his first exhibition in the UK in 15 years.

Hafdis Bennett renowned artist and avid photographer who finds inspiration in the elemental forces so evident in the wild landscape of her homeland. We present her stunning photographs for this special ICE07 exhibition.


Icelandic Head Chef of the renowned Restaurant DOMO Reykjavik, Ragnar Omarsson will create a Taste of Iceland at one of Liverpool’s most prestigious new venues, Room.
