About this role

We are looking for a visionary leader to be our new Head of Calderstones Programmes. This is a key role for The Reader as we bring our International Centre for Shared Reading in South Liverpool to life after a £5m refurbishment. At Calderstones we are building a new model of community around shared reading. Calderstones will be a leading Liverpool cultural and community health player as well as a national and international visitor destination.

Great literature is at our heart, so you must be a reader. You will enjoy working in a very fast-paced creative environment, driven by the need to bring about a reading revolution and passionate about the need to keep literature alive in a digital world.

You will have vision and heart, caring for the local and the individual as well as seeing and understanding the importance of the big picture.  You will be enterprising, flexible and approachable, with the ability to take a lead on both strategic and operational thinking. You will have a track record of ‘making things happen’ in whatever sector or area of work you’ve built your experience in. You will demonstrate an interest in cutting edge thinking about what needs to change to happen to make a more humane, civic society and a fairer and healthier world. You will be a confident communicator and highly organized.
