Go Superlambanana Preview Sculpture
Last Monday a preview Go Superlambanas sculpture was unveiled at Fazakerley Hospital. Painted with images of deadly bacteria that refer to the hospital’s history as a centre for treating infectious diseases, the sculpture is part of a wider celebration of the hospitals history, funded by the Heritage Lottery.
Artist Vik, who is part of Liverpool Biennial’s pool of artists and educators, was responsible for painting the sculpture. She worked with local school children to evolve the designs. They highlight the fascinating beauty of the microbes that caused some of the most horrific diseases in human history.
Last month Go Superlambananas launched an open call to artists to submit designs for the one hundred two metre high versions of The Superlambanana that will hit the streets of Liverpool for eight weeks in June 2008. To receive an artists submission pack please email firstname.lastname@example.org
