Good, We’re excited about this, we love the Superlambanana and we’re now busy working on our own design for the ArtInLiverpool.com one.
Local Artists invited to Go Superlambananas on the streets of Liverpool.
Go Superlambananas is a world-class participatory arts event that is set to be one of the highlights of Liverpool’s 2008 year of culture celebrations.
On 15th June 2008 up to one hundred 2-metre high versions of the Superlambanana sculpture, originally created by Taro Chiezo, will be installed in the streets, parks and public spaces of Liverpool and its surrounding neighborhoods for a period of 10 weeks.
To showcase the vibrant creativity of artists in our city, Go Superlambananas is inviting local artists, designers, and communities to transform these sculptures into exciting and engaging works of art.
We are now open for submissions from artists and designers based in the Northwest region who have a fun or thought-provoking idea about how to customise one of the Superlambananas. We welcome designs in all art forms – from painting to mosaics, from sound and video to poetry and photography. We invite you to showcase your creative practice as part of this high profile public event.
All submissions will be entered into our design portfolio from which we will commission as many artists as possible to realise their design in Spring 2008.
Upon completion of your artwork, each artist will be paid an honorarium of £750.00.
Artists who wish to submit a design should email firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the application pack.
All designs to be submitted to the following by 22nd February 2008
With your participation and support, we intend to deliver a massive public event that showcases the creative spirit that is at the very heart of Liverpool!
