Manchester Art Gallery are looking for two creative practitioners to join the freelance team that delivers on the schools and colleges programme, an Early Years Artist and a Storyteller.

The storyteller needs to be comfortable with delivering to key stage 2 pupils in an engaging and participatory manner that encourages children to discover and understand Greek myths whilst developing their speaking, listening and writing skills.

The early year’s artist will have a practice that is all about experimentation inspired by expressive arts and design using a range media and materials. We want to explore how the visual arts can assist Reception children with Oracy, the development of language through speaking and listening skills.

The projects will take place from January – March 2018 in the first instance but further opportunities are available.

It is our ambition that every child or young person in Manchester visits this gallery at least once during their education – we believe it’s their cultural entitlement. Children and young people are playful and risk taking and we want them to encourage us to be open and responsive to their needs. Hopefully you would like to explore this approach with us.

Please submit CV’s, and include examples of work by Tuesday 2 January 2018.

Selected artists will need to attend an interview on the afternoon of Wednesday 10 January 2018.
