Forrest Fine Arts’ is a fine arts business started by 2 brothers from Wallasey, Joseph and Daniel Forrest. Between 2004 – 2007 they both trained hands-on with ‘The Merseyside Forum for Painting, Sculpture and Allied Crafts’ in a wide range of classical skills and techniques under the guidance of Liverpool artist Terry McGunigle . There they tried their hands at a myriad of different crafts and skills including: Oil and Fresco painting, Clay modelling & Plaster casting, Fibreglass & cold-cast imitation bronze sculpture, Stone carving, Architectural embellishment, Lettering, Gold leaf & gilding as well as stone cleaning and restoration work. Terry earned an MA from Florence University and trained for many years in Carrara, Italy, and both Joseph and Daniel feel privileged to have been taught such skills.

“Many of the skills and techniques we learnt are becoming increasingly rare and even being lost altogether due to a lack of traditional apprenticeships and authentic crafts people. We didn’t go to university but instead learnt a whole range of skills that we never could have if we’d followed the traditional academic route.”

In December 2007 Joe and Dan were approached to paint some large scale still-life commissions for Vodka Revolution’s new bars opening in London and Cardiff. After the success of their work with Revolution they started their own business ‘Forrest Fine Arts’ and have continued to produce commissioned pieces for both businesses and private clients. Between commissions they continue work and develop an increasing body of original pieces in a variety of different mediums and subjects.

“Although we specialise in a classical style we don’t want to limit ourselves to just that and are quite excited to start using the principles and theories we learnt to develop our own styles of painting and sculpture. We know that there is a lack of this sort of knowledge in the current market and are looking forward to leaving our mark in the modern art market.”
