Exhibition of paintings by three Liverpool based artists
JOHN ELCOCK, JOSIE JENKINS & PAUL MELLOR
Saturday 19th August – Saturday 16th September
WARRINGTON MUSEUM & ART GALLERY,
CULTURAL QUARTER, MUSEUM STREET,
WARRINGTON, WA1 1JB
Featuring over thirty canvases ranging in size from eight inches to six foot, this exhibition brings together the work of three leading North West artists – John Elcock, Josie Jenkins and Paul Mellor. Each of the artists has a distinct and individual style but they share a common interest in exploring the continuing relevance of painting in a digital age and the enduring importance of the landscape tradition.
The paintings examine the sublime, memory, recollection and ambiguity, and include references to art history, cinema, urban decay and isolated landscapes as the artists seek to understand the strange reality of the world around us.
