An Introduction to Woodwork: Tool Box
Sat, January 6, 2018
12:00 PM – 4:00 PM GMT
Join our introduction to woodwork class, part of Make Liverpool’s woodwork programme for beginners.
A great way to hone your woodworking skills, or to learn a new skill from scratch, this four hour hands-on class will take you through the different skills and techniques needed to create your own masterpieces.
Using recycled and reclaimed wood, our workshop manager Mark Evans – who has ten years’ joinery experience under his toolbelt, and a bachelor’s degree in fine art to go with it – will walk you through the steps to crafting your very own toolbox.
One of the standout perks of our recent crowdfunding campaign, the toolbox will be yours to take home at the end of the class, during which time you’ll learn how to measure and cut wood accurately, and safely; as well as sanding, planing, drilling and sawing.
You will use
- Chop/ Mitre saw -Cut wood at various angles
- Band saw – Rip through timber
- Jigsaw – Free form cuts
- Drill driver – Pilot holes & fixing screws
- Pillar drill – bore vertical holes
- Disc / Belt sander – Accurate, powerful sanding
- Palm sander – Versitile sanding
And the great thing about joining onto our introduction to woodwork class is, once you’ve been inducted into the class and introduced to all of our equipment here at Make Liverpool – you won’t need to do it again. You’ll be a fully inducted member of Make Liverpool’s workshop, all you’ll need to do is become a member to continue to use all our tools after the class. You can purchase a discounted membership on the day of the class, and you’re good to go.
Join our class and build your confidence in using a range of woodworking tools and techniques, while building and joining your very own toolbox.
All tools, equipment and materials will be provided on the day, as well as builder’s tea and biscuits – naturally…
Class is held at:
